Collingwood is roughly a 2 hour drive from Toronto is a well known destination for those looking to flee the city for some time spent closer to nature. Hiking, skiing/snowboarding, water activities and the photogenic Collingwood Terminals are the main attractions. Not to mention the quaint small town charm with unique shops and restaurants.
Residents of Collingwood enjoy various grocery store options, specialty food shops and big box retailers that are also found in the city, just not as many.
Collingwood also has a hospital and medical building, thriving schools, recreation facilities and senior homes.
If you like soft sandy beaches like myself, Wasaga Beach - the world's longest freshwater beach, is just 20 minutes away from Collingwood.
It doesn’t have an IKEA or Costco (yet) but we call those rare weekend runs up here.
Not everyone has family living in town. Mine is just 1.5 hours away which is not bad considering it’s usually traffic-free.
I’m a true carbs lover and all things Portuguese cuisine. A good bowl of pho always hits the spot as well.
