The Golf Club at Lora Bay - Golf with friends while enjoying elevated views of Georgian Bay. This golf club has member benefits, dining and a year-round indoor golf simulator to help you with your swing.
Tomahawk Golf Course - If you’re just learning or teaching others how to golf, this course is just for you. It's an affordable and welcoming golf course that is beloved by the locals. Tomahawk also has a clubhouse with a snack bar and a driving range where you can practice your swing and pickleball courts.
The Georgian Bay Club - For a more luxurious golfing experience, this club also offers elevated views of Georgian Bay. Its members can enjoy the lavish clubhouse, a great restaurant, golf shop and even a winter golf academy taught by qualified PGA of Canada Teaching Professionals.
Thornbury Bakery Café - They have you covered from fresh baked goods to soups, sandwiches and frozen meals to-go.
The Bruce Wine Bar - This restaurant never disappoints. But do make a reservation as it’s quite popular.
The Mill Café - This local hotspot overlooks the Beaver River. My favourites are their fish dishes and the truffle fries.
The Port Tavern - the new restaurant by celebrity chef, Mark McEwen is the newest hotspot in town.
Do you own a boat? Or better yet, do you have a friend that owns a boat? ;-) Thornbury harbor is perfectly situated to give you direct views to the Niagara escarpment, access to fantastic lake fishing and relaxing days spent on the waters of beautiful Georgian Bay by The Thornbury Harbour.
My favourite hiking trails near Thornbury are the Loree Forest Trail, the famous Bruce Trail and the Kolapore Uplands Trail. In town, you can enjoy the over 285 km of public trails that are available for walking, running or biking.
Yes, you can fish the Beaver River and Georgian Bay, but did you know there’s also a fishway - a passage for Rainbow Trout and Chinook Salmon where you can watch them swim? The fishway enables access to spawning grounds in the Beaver River, contributing to healthier fish populations and enhancing opportunities for sport fishing and wildlife observation in Southern Georgian Bay. A great place for kids to learn about fish spawning.
The village of Clarksburg, known for its art studios and shops is just on the outskirts of Thornbury. Then you have the town of Meaford which is only a 12 minute drive from Thornbury and a good destination for restaurants, walking or taking in more Georgian Bay views. Blue Mountain village in just 15 minutes away from Thornbury.
For more shopping, Thornbury locals commonly take the easy country drive to either Collingwood or Owen Sound. There you will find larger big-box stores like WalMart, HomeSense, Home Depot, Canadian Tire, etc.
